Founded in 1901, The Gregg School is a private independent school set in 23 acres of spectacular wood and parkland, called Townhill Park. The school building itself (Townhill Park House) was built in 1790 and is surrounded by some beautiful gardens. Both the school building and the gardens are Grade II listed and these add to the school’s rich aura of history.
The Gregg School operates a prefect and house system and affords it’s pupils a wide range of activities to get involved in. These include band and orchestra participation, drama productions and the ability to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Sports are also given high priority and the school boasts football and cricket pitches and a netball court, all which have been recently refurbished. Good opportunities are also available for work experience, with the school having connections in a wide range of areas from Animal Welfare to the Armed Forces.
The admissions process for the Gregg School includes an entrance examination. However, before submitting a formal application, the school encourages parents and children to have visit and a look around. The school has a range of open days throughout the year and pre-arranged tours of the school are also welcomed, so there are ample opportunities for an orientation visit. For further information on arranging the visit, the exam, receiving a prospectus and other admission requirements, please contact The Gregg School via the contact details above.
The Gregg School is a day school only and there are no facilities for boarding. Scholarships and means-tested bursaries are available if certain criteria are met. It is part of The Gregg & St Winifred’s Schools Trust which also owns and runs St Winifred’s School, a private independent primary school in Southampton.
