The Stroud Independent Preparatory School is a private school that was founded in 1926 and has been in it’s current location in Romsey since 1953. Set in 20 acres of land, the main school building is Highland House which was constructed in 1850. A range of other more modern buildings have also been constructed, including the early years building and the multipurpose hall.

Stroud School is split into Early Years (Nursery and Reception / Ages 3-4 & 4-5), Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2 / Ages 5-6 & 6-7), Middle School (Years 3, 4 & 5 / Ages 7-8, 8-9 & 9-10) and Senior School (Years 6, 7 & 8 / Ages 10-11, 11-12 & 12-13). Pupils in Year 8 are given the opportunity to take entrance examinations for Kind Edward VI School in Southampton, Winchester College and other private independent schools.

The school has a wealth of facilities including music, art, technology and cooking rooms and the hall is able to cater for sports events and drama productions. In addition to it’s high academic achievements, the school places particular importance on sports and performing arts and the pupils are given many opportunities to partake in both.

For the younger children, the school has constructed The Forest School amongst the woodland within the grounds. The 3 – 5 year olds go there once a week to explore the natural environment. For the older pupils, domestic school trips are a regular occurrence and the Seniors have the change to go to France and Barcelona.

It is possible for pupils to be at the school from 7.45am – 5.45pm and this obviously means that Stroud School is a day school without boarding facilities. A qualified nurse is always on site throughout the day and it has the very active Stroud School Association which encourages parents and pupils to take part in regular trips and excursions.

The admissions process requires the completion of an application form and a registration fee, with places being offered subject to space being available. More admissions information is available via the contact details given above.
