Founded in 1949, Prince’s Mead School is a private independent coeducational day school located in the village of King’s Worthy, about 2 miles from Winchester. The school contains just under 250 pupils, including nursery and reception facilities and is set in around 14 acres of land.

Having been at it’s current King’s Worthy location since 1999, the school has a wide range of good facilities available to it’s pupils. Outside, the nursery and reception children have access to an enclosed play area and the whole school benefits from the playing fields and vast stretches of green space. A large sports hall has been constructed within the grounds that caters to a wide range of sports and large investment has been made into the school’s ICT department. Children are also encouraged to grow their own vegetables in the specially designated vegetable patch.

All National Curriculum subjects are covered and the children get the option to learn French and Spanish. The older children are also well prepared in the event of taking a common entrance exam to gain entry to independent senior schools.

The children at the school are encouraged to be active and creative and a variety of after school clubs are available. Recent events at the school have included cricket masterclasses, quizes, foreign language days and a trip to the Netherlands for some of the older children. As a registered charity, the Prince’s Mead School has close links with a school in India, which often involves fundraising events and activities.

Regarding admissions, their is no official assessment for entering the nursery, although parents and children are encouraged to visit the school prior to completing an application form. Children entering the school in Year 1 (age 6-7) are normally required to attend an assessment day within one of the classes. Further information is available from the school directly via the contact details above.
