Moyles Court School is an independent private day and boarding school for children aged between 3 – 16. Originally founded in the 1940s, the school is located in the former manor house of Rockford and Ellingham in the Hampshire hamlet of Rockford, about 2 miles from Ringwood. Set in around 14 acres of attractive park and woodland, the school teaches approximately 170 pupils.
Pupils can start boarding at the school from the age of 8 (Year 3). There is space for around 50 boarders across two boarding houses (one for girls, one for boys) that are located within the grounds of the school. Boarders have regular access to medical staff, there is a catering team providing a varied menu and there are house staff providing supervisory and pastoral care roles. The common rooms in the houses provide a social focal point and there are a range of after school and weekend activities organised for the boarders. These can include sports and excursions out to local attractions and facilities. Full, weekly and flexi boarding options are available.
The school has good facilities particularly for sport with a sports hall, tennis courts and ample playing fields. Competitive sports are played in abundance with fixtures in football, rugby, cricket, swimming, gymnastics and athletics for boys and girls competing in netball, hockey, rounders, athletics, gymnastics, football and swimming. The school also has a great range of after school clubs constantly running in things like languages, music, dance, drama, arts, the Duke of Edinburgh Award and outdoor pursuits and team building trips.
Admission to Moyles Court School is a fairly simple process as it has a non-selective policy whereby no entrance examination is required. Instead, parents are encourage to make an appointment to view the school and the meet with the headmaster and other members of staff. Children are also able to have taster days to get a feel for the surroundings and to be informally assessed. Children who will be boarding have the option of staying overnight in order to get familiar with the boarding way of life. Further information and a tour of the school can be arranged via the contact details above.
